Casio will be unveiling the world's first Hybrid GPS Radio-controlled watch - G-SHOCK GPS Hybrid Waveceptor atBaselworld 2014.
The blurb below is taken from Casio's exhibitor info page:
CASIO is proud to introduce its 2014 collection, featuring a range of timepieces that push the boundaries of technological innovation.
Come and visit us to see the world's first Hybrid GPS Radio-controlled watch "G-SHOCK GPS Hybrid Waveceptor", "EDIFICE BluetoothControl Speed Chronograph" and the latest "PRO TREK Triple Sensor".
As the term 'hybrid' suggests, the GPS system will work alongside Casio's Multiband 6 technology. The good news is that for those of us who are too far away to receive time calibration radio signals (like Australia) the GPS functionality will come in handy to accurately calibrate the time, especially for those who travel across different time zones.
Combining GPS technology into a wristwatch is not new, in fact Casio were the first to do so with the PRT-1 Pro Trek SATELLITE NAVI back in 1999. 15 years later Casio will yet again be the first, this time combining GPS with Multiband 6, and doing so in a G-Shock! We'll be keeping our ears to the ground for more news, so stay tuned!
